Mummy...
All the peeps are saying that Spring is right around the corner...
I go to the neighbor's house at the corner every day to check and I don't see 'nothin!
As a sophisticat, I don't get how people can get away with saying something that obviously isn't true. We all know there is like 30" of snow in my yard and more is expected this weekend! I don't think it's gonna go anywhere fast...especially when it's this cold.
Maybe I'll just stay inside and watch the corner from here...

Rainbow Scrap Challenge - February
Sew ... here it is, nearly the end of February, and I thought I should show you the "progress" on my RSC projects for the month. I suppose 2 weekend retreats, teaching a full Saturday class, taking EMT class twice a week, Tyler's hockey finals and bronchitis could be blamed for a slow month but I also suppose it could just be the color...
Pink? Ick!
In reality, I didn't set specific monthly goals for each of my three RSC projects so I really don't care how much I accomplish as long as it's something and I'm having fun!!! Besides these 5 blocks, I was able to cut up a few pinks towards the other 2 projects - I guess I just didn't put fabric to pressure foot very often. Heck, I haven't even finished a third audio book for the month. Can you believe it?? Now that's slacking!
On the other hand, my callus has torn thru twice so I *have* accomplished lots of hexies this month. It's all relative. Some of the hexies were even pink!
I have a funeral to attend on Saturday afternoon but I am hoping to spend the rest of the weekend prepping more Value Proposition rosettes, Millefiori block #3, a class sample in Seminole Piecing and maybe I can cram in another couple pink box kite blocks :) I suppose I ought to do some housework in there two but that is going to take some arm twisting...

Feline Friday - 2/20/15
Hey Momma -
I know it was -11F/-24C with a windchill of -28F/-34C when you got up for that fire call at 5:08 this morning so, if you don't mind, I'm just gonna stay right here in my cozy box...
Cya later! Like MAYBE when it's at least 40F outside...

HeLP for Hexie-aholics!!!
Howdy and welcome to another rousing edition of Hexie Linky Party for Hexie-aholics!!!
All y'all have your hexie nail polish on for the party, right??!!
This past weekend was retreat #2 for the LQS. Luckily I get to attend in a work capacity, running the on-scene store, answering quilting questions and what not. When the girls don't need me tho, I get to do my own thing!!
Thanks to a lot of this:
I was doing a lot of this:
Which resulted in this:
I had to get more of the black to finish the last block in the 2nd row and I have parts of the third row made. I had gotten this far at the end of retreat on Sunday and, while I could have continued with the rosette Sunday evening and Monday (federal holiday), I chose to work on some other hexie projects for a change of pace. Nothing exciting enough to share, just making progress on smaller projects that fit in ones hand... :) This sucker is HUGE! About 36" across!
Now, if I could just get over this bronchitis, I would be a happy woman. Today my right lung hurts from coughing so much. I'm gonna leave it up to YOU, my bloggy friends, to take my mind off being sick: please link up to a specific blog post showing any hexie project you would like to share. As always, it can be a current project, a UFO, an antique you came across and everything in between!

Feline Friday - 2/13/15 - Visiting!
Didja know that yesterday was "Take Your Kid to Work Day"???? It was!!!!!!
Ok, so I had to endure some of this.
But Momma gave me 100 gold stars for good behavior. No biting! No hissing! No scratching!
See Momma, I CAN be a good boy!
Anyway...when Momma took me to work she left me in the P. T. U. for a while but then she let me explore a little. I checked out some boxes and the top of her desk and a very dark corner under some shelves.
Eventually I warmed Momma's laptop case and ...
I sat behind Momma on her snazzy ergonomic chair and ...
I worked my way to the top of the shelves! Great view out the window screen. Kristin says I had a rose colored view of Main Street! She's nice!
I settled in quite well with my view of the whole office. I was hoping someone would come in and not see me here but it didn't happen. Momma's office was pretty quiet yesterday. Maybe that was a good thing cuz sometimes doggies come with their Momma's and Daddies to renew their licenses.
PS - Momma says to tell you she is loaded for bear thanks to her new doctor. Not sure what it means but last night she actually played in her studio instead of flopping on the couch like my lazy sissy. Today tho, Momma is thinking that fast-acting steroid they shot into her butt has worn off cuz she's back to hocking up furballs. Yuck!
Happy Friday the 13th from the nicest B&W cat in Castile!!!

The Bibliophile Files
I can't say this has been my most productive month of reading...
Not only did I only finish 3 audio-books and 1 paper book but I discovered that I had already listened to 2 of the audio-books. Ugh.
One of them I recognized immediately but still decided to finish since I didn't remember the ending. The other I had absolutely no clue I read it almost 5 years ago until I logged them into shelfari.com today. Thing is, I really enjoyed both books and noticed they're both part of book series. One would think that one would remember books that one enjoys...
Here's hoping the audio-books I have lined up for the next month are not also repeats. LOL.
Bad Blood
The Bookwoman's Last Fling
A Stranger's Game - a romance novel that's not in-your-face-romance. I'll be looking into the rest of the series...
*The Old Cape House - nice mix of 1715 and present day story telling. Parts were predictable and parts were redundant but I liked it and skipped nearly 3 hours of hexies to finish the book this weekend. Does that tell you anything??!!
Still on my stereo: Gone Girl - I'm really liking this book: feeling bad for a character until there is a twist and then feeling bad for another character until another twist and round and round it goes. 3 more CDs left and I can't wait to hear how it ends!
Okay my Bibliophile friends - what have you been reading?? Remember, anything goes! Audio-book, paper book, quilting book, magazine, cereal box. We all love the suggestion of a good book!

Design Wall Monday - 2/2/15
Saturday we went to my nephew's hockey game. They won 7-0 but I completely neglected to take any photos. As my younger nephew says... Go Blues!! The game was almost over with just 26 seconds left when the players switched and Ty got to play one last time. In just two seconds he had scored the last goal. Go Ty!!!!
The rest of the weekend was spent with rotary cutter in hand. I cut pink and neutral strips for this month's Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks. I trimmed scraps. I cut tiny 1" tumblers from the Civil War fabric I purchased in Gettysburg several years ago. I also cut the next 6 hexie fabrics for my hexie I-Spy quilt.
You may recall from last week that I was debating whether the setting triangles should be smaller on the I-Spy project. I started this little cat mat with smaller setting triangles but I'm still not really decided. I think even if I do decide I want them to finish in this smaller size that I should still make them with the 2.5" black strips so I have room to trim them down.
I hope y'all appreciate this snow photo. I was kneeling out the back door at work to take the photo. As soon as I clicked the shutter button, a gust of wind blew it off the back steps into a snowbank. I had to take 3 steps in my socks and then proceeded to drop my iPhone in the same snowbank. It's not the best shot but we went with one-and-done!
Speaking of snow...we finally got a little last night and it's still snowing!! It's the pretty, fluffy flakes so I don't mind.
I had a little trouble getting out the door this morning since the snow came from the east instead of the west. Neither Squeaky or Zorro wanted out the door either. Z was happy to go out the window to sit on "his" table for a few seconds. He wanted out again as I was leaving for work. Generally he sits on the porch for 5 minutes while I suit up and then comes right back in for the day.
This time he went under the porch and refused to come back out. I was running late for work and had to leave him outside. He's gonna get chilly before I get home from EMT class at 10:30 tonight but Grandpoppa agreed to check on him if he had to go downtown. Kids!
Shoveling was slow going but after four rounds with the shovel my neighbors came over and helped me with their snow blower. Total shovel/blower time was >60 minutes but they probably saved me another 30 minutes. Thank God for good neighbors!!
