Bitty Basket Blocks

You may recall my recent obsession with basket blocks thanks to the sew-a-long at http://temeculaquiltco.blogspot.com/. When working on those blocks I had one left over after one of the browns I chose didn't play well with the others. I set the block aside and hoped to someday make more, maybe even enough for a large(r) quilt.

In reviewing pictures from my trip to Houston last fall, I even discovered that the one basket quilt that caught my attention was a slight variation on the same block.

All this to say that this past weekend I got the urge to make more baskets!!!

I started by just picking a few 1.5" strips out of the scrap bins to make a couple blocks but when I realized there was really nothing else I wanted to work on over the weekend, I cut up a lot of "kits." All this cutting also meant that I could be cutting neutrals for my current blue/white leader-ender and neutral arrowhead projects at the same time. wootwoot. :)

I now have 10 baskets made and kits are ready for 5 more. You can see a stack of neutrals in the next shot - just a smidgeon of my collection. If I were to admit to collecting any kind of fabric it would be neutrals as they seem to be in 99% of my projects.

Ever on the hunt to organize all 1 million seven hundred and seventy seven projects I have going...the finished blocks have been put in this candy dish and the kits are in a muffin tin. And yes, Midgie was bribed for this shot :)

Anyone want to make basket blocks with me? I can post a tutorial on how I make these with the Easy Angle and Companion Angle rulers...

  1. I am still recovering from my recent basket obsession--don't get me started again. I really love that quilt that served as your inspiration!
And what is with all the food containers as holders for your parts? That would make me salivate while quilting! : )
