The rest of Sunday was pretty much spent on prepping a class sample for an upcoming Seminole Piecing class and going to Cartwright's Maple Tree Inn with the family. CMPT is a sure sign that spring is coming - it's only open 2 months of the year. It's still just a tad early for the sap to be running but it's always a treat to get buckwheat pancakes and local maple syrup. Later this month will be two NY Maple Weekends. Of the 54 participating maple producers from around the state, 19 are in my county!!
The other signs of spring? 1. My cardinals have returned and were singing up a storm this morning. 2. The great wanderer (who wanted in and out ALL day yesterday - I need a revolving door!) didn't come back home before I left for work this morning. I'm sure he's having a ball!
We have a couple of Maple Festivals coming up in this area, too. Think it's a bit early but like you said - homemade pancakes and homemade syrup is a yummo!!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than maple syrup. The best I ever had was made over a wood fire so it had a lovely smokey flavour. It was delicious!
ReplyDeleteSpring is on its way but we have a lot of snow that has to melt before it finally arrives!
Forgot to say I love your VP blocks! Blue and gold is such a dynamic colour combination (one of my favourites)!
ReplyDeleteI am loving the fabrics in your Seminole Patchwork!
ReplyDeleteThe pancakes and syrup sound yummy!
I think there's a song written for Z . . .
ReplyDelete"They call me the wanderer
Yeah, the wanderer
I roam around, around, around"
:)
