Hello and welcome to another round of The Bibliophile Files, a monthly post where I record the books I've read or listened to and encourage you to do the same!!
And lest you think you need to read an actual book ... feel free to share the latest magazine, quilt pattern book or cereal box you've read!
Finished since the last TBF:
Justice Hall, Sweet Tea Revenge, Brother Odd, Pop goes the Weasel, Calling Me Home
Currently on my car stereo: Cruel Intent
I have to say that Calling Me Home was a fabulous book about an elderly white woman and her younger black hairdresser driving her from Texas to Cincinnati for a family funeral. Along the way both ladies tell their stories, one present day and one from long ago. I loved that the audiobook was read by 2 women, making it easily discernible who was telling their story at any given time.
Ok, my fellow Bibliophiles ... what have you read in the last month??!!
Dalrynple, William. From the Holy Mountain: A Journey in the shadow of Byzantium. In 1995 the author journeyed through the middle east following the steps of a journey made by a Christian monk in the 6th century AD. It is very relevant to the current religious upheavel of the present day.
ReplyDeleteCalling Me Home sounds very interesting. I've just finished reading The Jaguar's Children by John Vaillant and am currently reading The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton.
