Working Wednesday

I've been plugging away at finishing Bonnie's mystery blocks.

I've completed 4 already - can't believe how easy these are with all the bits already made.
It's funny how those are 4 completely different yellows but in this washed out morning picture they almost appear the same.

This will be the next block. I'm trying to get at least one block done a night which means I might have the blocks done by this weekend. And then it will be on to sashing.

I've probably got enough bits to make 3 more blocks. I'll need to finish up the bits that I've made and lay them out to see if I need to make more blocks. Remember, I'm only aiming for lap size.

And while I was working on the mystery blocks I needed some leaderEnders so I resurrected my Puss in the Corner blocks. These are made with 2.5" blocks but can be made in any size - 2.5" blocks just happen to be an easy size to cut when I am trimming my scraps down into 1.5/2/2.5" strips. Check out my tutorial if you would like to make some with your own scraps. Or send me your scraps and I'll make even more. LOL! I think I have around a 100 blocks already but I'm going to need a ton more...

  1. Your mystery blocks are very pretty. Can't wait to see them with the sashing.
Are you using alternate blocks with your PITC blocks--or sashing, or nothing between them?

  3. Love your mystery blocks. Puss in the Corner is a great way to use up scraps as well as for a leader/ender.

  7. I would really like to make this quilt. I printed all the clues, but I know I am short on some of the colors and there is no local quilt store anymore. I hate ordering little bits online. Yours look terrific.

  9. the mystery quilt is looking good, have downloaded and maybe one day will have a go.
Plenty of puss in the corner blocks, I have a box full of all sorts of blocks I have tried not done this one so will have to make one too and add it to all the others, very useful for reference.

  10. I have all my BH units made (I made only half which means I will have to make a few more to get 9 blocks since a 2 block by 4 block setting would look weird), but I didn't really like how the yellows jumped out in Bonnie's finish so I'm using a single, more subtle yellow with a touch of purple in it. Will start block construction today after I do this week's Solstice block from Pat Sloan. Your blocks are looking good.
