Wednesday Weather and Pieced Hexies

This week's weather was pretty standard for June in Western NY. Starting in the 70s, jumping to the 80s and then back down to the 60s. I think this week I'll start writing down the actual temperatures to include with these weather reports since I think that's more interesting than generalizations.

I suppose it's about time I also admit that I've ALWAYS been a weather junkie, like I almost considered it as a career kind of a junkie. Don't hold it against me...

Almost done with a second white "sashing"

And I should  have known better than to work on something simple last weekend for Quilt in Public Day - now it's all I want to work on instead of my secret swap project or the UFO that I was making great strides on. There's no deadline for the UFO but the secret project has to be done in 16 days so I best get out my best taskmaster voice and get myself back to it.

It's hard to tell in the photos but I've got about 25 different white on white fabrics to use for the white sashing. I darkened the contrast on this photo hoping you can see some of them. I've got hexies, gingerbread men, polka dots, strips, cowboy boots, snowflakes and just about anything else I can find :)

  3. Hi Sarah,
Your last photo shows the best on the different white-on-white hexies. Now get that UFO project done and out of the way and then you can come back and play with the hexies. Go on. Go! Get it done. ~smile~

  4. with such a variety of fabrics these hexies are going to make a wonderful quilt. Weather here today is cooler we`ve had the hottest june day since 1976. Was warned of very heavy rain for last night but did not get any will come today I expect as I am doing some washing

  5. I also love to follow the weather. I can't miss the weather report from at least one newscast, and I prefer to see two different stations. And I have weather apps on each device, and usually more than one. I sometimes think I should have been a meteorologist!
So your hexie temperature quilt is a combination of two loves. How fun!
I have almost no white on white. Whenever I discover one in my stash it surprises me. Sounds like you have an incredible stash of them!

  8. Another warm week of hexies for you. Looks great! I shall try not to be impatient for warm weather. Yesterday a friend gave me a heap of teal and blue scraps so that I won't need to repeat any hexie fabric even if our weather stays the same for many weeks.
