Wednesday Weather Report #173 on Thursday - 9/10/20

I was so proud yesterday cuz I remembered to bring my weather hexies to work but as soon as I went to take a picture I realized the colors were "wrong" - I had brought last week's hexies with me. Ugh. I promise to get my act together soon.

Today was supposedly my last podiatrist appointment for my foot (rest while it was broken led to plantar fasciitis and a swollen ankle after I resumed activities) so my "architectural" photo today is the front of the hospital. I know it's hard to read but it says Wyoming County Community Hospital. This is where I drop off patients when I'm an EMT on the ambulance but they have recently been bringing in lots of great city doctor practices for non-emergency issues which is nice out here in the boondocks. Who wants to drive to the city every couple of weeks for follow up appointments?

I tried to find a sign where I could get the hexies in the same picture but nothing was easily accessible when I was running late for work. How can the doc be late for his first couple of appointments of the day?!?

Last Saturday I did my annual hexie demo at the Farmers' Market.
I usually bring lots of big quilts for people to look at as well as the doll bed
stacked high with dolly quilts but I really scaled it back this year due to 'Rona.
My theme was "the same but different" so I picked 4 paper shapes and brought
at least 2 items made with the shape to show how different it can look in
different applications. I think I have at least 2 new converts to join hexie club !!!

I finally finished the back of Mom's jean jacket.
I still need to finish the front yokes - She said to just use the mason
jar fabric but I'm not sure that's the best choice just yet.
Either way, she took it camping so I can finish it later.

My latest obsession are these mini-POTC blocks.
Can you see my thumbnail next to the 1" honeycomb shape?
T.I.N.Y. !!!
They are super fiddly to stitch but finding fabrics to fussy cut is addictive.
I think I have 4 more blocks kitted up and I'm working on a couple more.

This is one of the blocks I am working on.
I started with the feather fabric and I'm slowing figuring
out what else to do with it. I'm not sure if I want the third and fourth
fabric to be the same gray or different grays or add a totally
different fourth fabric.
Decisions, decisions...

  1. I am just loving your mini POTC blocks! So pretty and delicate! Your mom's jacket is fabulous! I'm sorry you're still struggling with your ankle issues. NO FUN. Your temps, on the other hand, are stellar!! :)

  2. WOW, those little blocks are amazing. Hope the foot is healing and improvement is noticeable. I wear inserts in all my shoes for plantar fascitis- usually the runner active ones from Dr. Scholl. Really helps. If they are too hard, it gets worse. Love the work today!

  4. All your hexies are looking great!

Some years ago I was visiting a specialist who was always running behind. I got sick of spending up to an hour waiting for every visit, so for one appointment I booked the earliest time in the day. I thought that way she couldn't possibly be running late. Wrong! I was in the waiting room for 30 minutes past my appointment time before she arrived, carrying her morning coffee. At least it solved the mystery of why she was always running late. She started that way!

    Your Mom's jacket is incredible!!
Did you and Denise coordinate to post POTC blocks? I wouldn't put it past you. Your blocks are tiny, and looking really good!

  6. Oh gosh, those tiny blocks are adorable! I only started working with hexies last month and I can't even imagine sewing on something that small yet.
