Wednesday Weather Report #106 - 5/29/19

It's amazing how a 3 day weekend / day off can throw the rest of the week off kilter. Today feels like a Tuesday but half-way through lunch I realized it was Wednesday and I didn't have my temp fabrics with me. To be honest, I can't wait to get back in the habit of doing them every day or so. It gives life some rhythm.

For the week of May 22-28, 2019: 65 - 70 - 64 - 72 - 77 - 72 - 67 F

Maybe this will make up for lack of a temp pic?

As you can see, I'm currently working to attach the bottom left section. I also have at least 10 more brown hexies assembled at home. That firmly puts me at less than 200 hexies to fill out this corner!!

My original goal of 9 months (270 days) is fast approaching and it's looking like I will be darn close but not quite as I only have 8 days. Originally the 9 month goal was just a plan in order to leave me time to get the thing quilted but now it's so close that I can taste it and I *want* it. I want it bad!

I plan to spend as much time as I can in the next week to make this happen. Tonight's chore? Cutting more white grunge - I only have 2 squares left, hence the working ahead on the browns...

Wednesday Weather Report #105 - 5/22/19

So it just dawned on me...
Last week's report was #104 making that report the end of the 2nd year of this weather project. Woohoo! I may not have much follow through with BOM/BOW/BOD programs but this particular project certainly has my *full* attention.

As I mentioned recently, I'm spending all my spare time focusing on Mr Serious and not working on any other projects, including my weather quilt. The severe focus is working because, by my estimates, I am down to just 250 hexies left!!!

If anyone needs me in the next couple of weeks, I'll be firmly planted on the couch, stitching my fingers to the bone. I'll try not to bleed on the quilt...

May 15 - 21, 2019
65 - 64- 64 - 60 - 84 - 63 - 59 F

I'm still not getting comment notifications from blogger. Anyone found a fix yet?

Feline Friday & HeLP for Hexie-aholics - 5/17/19

Welcome to a double header today!!

Looking at this picture just makes my heart race!

It's been a literal race for 250 days to get this far and I can't believe I am so close to finishing. There are thunderstorms forecast for Sunday and the car dealerships are all closed (grrr!) so I am declaring Sunday a Mr Serious day with no housework or chores allowed!

2,005 hexies completed = just 322 more to go!!

Black, greys and yellow are now completed. That just leaves the 3 cream/whites and brown.

And now it's your chance to share a link to anything related to your cat(s) or hexie project(s).

Have a happy feline and hexie filled weekend!!

stuff

So...I just discovered that blogger hasn't sent me any comments posted in the last week. I'm sorry if y'all thought I was ignoring you yet again. I'll try to get them answered with the old fashioned copy and paste method, assuming I have your email...

I'm hosting a Pampered Chef party on Facebook. I'm really late in posting this so let me know ASAP if you want to join in on fb...orders are due tomorrow night but credit cards won't be charged until Monday. If you just want to order something and not play the games or check out the awesome fiesta recipes and tips you can head straight to https://www.pamperedchef.com/party/sarahballinger0513. Thanks for looking!

And for some "color" - this morning I stitched the last black and grey hexies for Mr Serious!! Woohoo!!! Tomorrow is both Feline Friday and HeLP for Hexie-aholics so look for an overall update. Maybe Z will cooperate for a group photo?! Only time will tell...

FYI - one of the missing comments asked me to post the original photo for Mr Serious. The original photo and all the status photos are listed on THIS page.

Wednesday Weather Report #104 - 5/15/19

Well, today is a total screw up on my part...

You will recall that 2 weeks ago, I just showed the fabrics (un-hexified) for the weather and last week the weather report was a no show while I was at a conference. In talking with a friend Monday, I mentioned that while it would just take a bit of time to catch up on my weather quilt (takes about 1 hour per week) it's entirely possible that I could actually finish the top of Mr Serious by my original deadline of 6/9/19 with some serious effort. Erin said to go for it: ignore the temp quilt and focus on Mr S.

Except I ignored the temp quilt so much I even forgot to bring the fabrics with me today to add some color to this post. LOL. Maybe getting up at 4am has something to do with my lack of mental acuity today...

May 1 - 7: 68 - 53 - 65 - 52 - 58 - 68 - 52 F

May 8- 14: 57 - 71 - 61 - 52 - 46 - 47 - 43

The plan is to continue focusing on Mr Serious to see how much I can get done by my crazy deadline. Next week I hope to bring the fabrics to make these posts more colorful!!

Feline Friday - 5/10/19

I chose to stay outside last night. It was a good idea until it started raining. And kept raining.

It rained long and hard enough that the usual spots, and even some new ones, flooded in my yard.

When Momma got up I waited an appropriate amount of time before curling up on her lap. Where else would I be on such a yucky, rainy morning??!!

1931 hexies = 83% complete,
Only 396 to go!!

So THIS happened in the last week!!! I now have a nose. Momma thinks it's a bit too bright in person but I assured her it would look ok when the quilt was finished.

I look good, don't I??!!

The Bibliophile Files - 5/7/19

Hello and Welcome to my monthly book list!!

As usual, I'm behind on my annual reading goal via goodreads.com but the YA Sync program started for the summer and a lot of those free books tend to be on the short side so I'm looking forward to catching up soon.

On the other hand, I'm doing well on my "calendar" reading challenge so that's encouraging. Of course I'm ticking off all the easy letters now - I won't be so optimistic when I am struggling to find E or U books...

FINISHED
     Where the Crawdads Sing
     The Girls in the Garden
     Get Well Soon
     A Study in Charlotte
     Swing
     Enigma

IN PROGRESS
on my iPhone - Blink & Caution
on my home stereo - Dreaming Spies

And now it's your turn -- what are you reading?
Anything counts - novel, quilt magazine, cereal box....

Feline Friday - 5/3/19

Hey Momma - Where ya going? Did the fire siren go off again?

This is my buddy Junior. Do you like the new siding on his house? Purrrsonally, I prefurred the red cedar shakes...partly cuz they had to cut down all the fabulous shrubs to put the new siding up.

Wednesday Weather Report #102 - 5/1/19

Happy May Day!!! This morning I grabbed breakfast at the 126th annual May Day Breakfast at the church a few doors up the street from me. I, obviously, haven't been attending it for that long but it's amazing to think an event has happened for so long in a small rural neighborhood.

April 24 - 30, 2019
49 - 61 - 63 - 34 - 40 - 47 - 44 F

So, this happened in the last week - can you guess which day it was?

Today is a lovely, chocolaty, not-quite-sunny 68F. Yes, Chocolaty because we have a cookie factory in town and when the wind is just right, it smells like chocolate. It's divine for this choco-holic!

Mr Serious is 3 hexies short of finishing the top right section. I've had the colormap printed for the last section and now I'm pulling my hair out marking the map so I start stitching in the right place and I don't goof it up. The next picture will show Z over 3/4 finished!!
