Woah!
Look what Momma spied on her way home from the Adirondacks last Sunday!!
This cat was on his way up to the Adirondacks!!
His Momma told my Momma that he was trying to have a good time in the car but my Momma noticed he mewed a lot when his Momma went in to pay for their gas.
I hope he had a good time camping - I see he already had his harness on...
Feline Friday is hosted every friday and HELP for Hexie-aholics is hosted on the 17th of each month. We hope you'll join us!

Wednesday Weather Report #62 - 7/25/18
Hello! Hello!
Did you miss me last week? I spent 10 days in my favorite Adirondack Mountains where the weather was both hot and cold. I'm trying to get a post together for next week...
First is the week that finished while I was camping:
That Monday where it was 92? Yeah I was hiking. Ugh. I had tried to talk myself out of it but then someone said oh just get up early so you can finish early and it will be fine.
Well... I kinda got up early, didn't account for the long drive there (half on a washboard dirt road) nor did I count on the almost vertical climb for the last mile of the 3 mile hike. And I am not the fastest climber to begin with, being an overweight asthmatic with a formerly Cranky Ankle to look out for. Anyway, after reaching the top, taking some time to rest, eat lunch and do a few hexies, take a climb up the fire tower and a hike back down to the car, the afternoon was half over, let alone going back down that awful dirt road.
This high was followed by a quick thunderstorm which helped drop the temps for the next two days.
The low for the week was 44 Thursday morning - it was great sleeping weather but I didn't get to enjoy it otherwise as I was sick as a dog. Bummer cuz it was perfect weather to go hiking.
The month so far has been quite warm which makes that one cool day stick out like a very sore thumb.
I especially get a kick out of seeing June and July together. Saturday I'm doing my annual hexie demo at the local farmers' market. They really got a kick out of the start of last year's temp quilt so I hope they will enjoy the finished year 1 and start of year 2 just as much.
How's your weather been??

HeLP for Hexie-aholics - 7/17/18
Hello and Welcome to another edition of Hexie Linky Party for Hexie-aholics!
And just to prove that it's really an incurable addiction I'm going to share a new project. I have a thing for basket blocks so I couldn't resist...
Janet's first reaction was that I could (should?) make these on a machine but then I countered that the project wouldn't be portable. We had a discussion on me taking a treadle or hand crank machine camping, whether rotary cutting would be allowed in the primitive setting and later we added in the child sized antique ironing board that I haven't shared yet. In the end, it still wasn't quite portable enough so I kept to the hexies...
I've got one 8" block done - just 3 more to go. All the baskets will have the same brown fabric for the basket and the color placement (gold/green/neutral) will be the same in the other blocks but each with different fabrics.
The rest of the doll quilt will be probably be borders, maybe in a medallion style. You already knew it would be a doll quilt, right??!!
And now it's your turn to share your latest hexie project. It can be old or new, with any paper shape.

Wednesday Weather Report #60 - 7/11/18
First of all - let's update last week's weather report...
And sew...how has your weather been?
Please feel free to leave your weather in the comments or link up a post with your own weather project. You don't have to use EPP for your quilt, it's just that so far all the people Isuckered invited to join in do hexies...
You will recall I needed to purchase maroon Grunge for July 1st when it was 92F and I needed to cut more red because in the first 5 weeks of this years quilt we have already had more red/80s days than in the 52 weeks of the first quilt. And that trend has been continuing...
Updated photo for week #59 June: 69 - 73 - 82 - 86 F July: 92 - 88 - 83 F |
And here is this week's weather:
85 - 87 - 71 - 71 - 77 - 81 - 81 F |
Followed closely by the weather for the month of July so far:
And just to prove that it's really summer (as if the temperatures didn't give it away!) - only in Summer do I have hot air balloons float over my house. I really thought he was about to land in the village park behind my house because he was so low but nope, he was a rising! It was a glorious evening for a balloon ride :)

Feline Friday - 7/6/18
Here I am...chillin' like a villain under my favorite maple tree. There's nothing like a good dust bath and a rock for a pillow on a HOT summer day. I can also watch all the birdies and squirrels in the trees.
Today is Momma's first Friday off for summer hours and can you believe she left me home alone to go on a FART? The nerve...

Wednesday Weather report #59 - 7/4/18
Today's report is a tale of being unprepared...
We finished out the month of June on a temperature upswing and started July with the hottest of hot days. The record in Rochester for Sunday was 96 - not sure if we beat it but we were super close.
The first problem came in that after a 2017 summer that was mostly orange/70s and never above red/80s, I hadn't yet bought maroon grunge fabric, assuming we couldn't possibly get into the 90s this early in the year. Guess I was really wrong on that fact. Oopsies.
And then, when I went to finish out what I could at lunch on Tuesday to schedule this post for Wednesday, I didn't have enough red rectangles with me. Can you believe that in just the first 33 days this quilt already has more red days than the entire 2017-2018 quilt??!!
I'll be buying maroon grunge on Friday and I'll post an updated/completed photo next week.
Gotta run...lunch is almost over!
