Feline Friday - 9/27/19
Since I was camera shy this week, I told Momma to show you her new twister pattern. She bought it last weekend and already has all the pieces cut out.
She's got lots of hexies to do this weekend but I hope she can start onthe my new quilt anyway...

Wednesday Weather Report #123 - 9/25/19
Once again I chose to work on my newest doll quilt instead of hexies. Getting home late every night after job#2 is really cutting into my hexie time!!
Lemme tell you those 80s were killer days. I mowed the lawn on Saturday but it wasn't too bad as I waited until late in the day. Sunday we went up to Buffalo for a special mass at the cathedral and then lunch at Cheesecake Factory. The feels like temp was 87F. The next couple of weeks should be more fall like but I'll only believe it when I see it as Mother Nature likes to keep us on our toes...
And this is why I chose to continue working on my doll quilt:
Yesterday's chore was to finish stitching it into one piece!!
I need to add one more row to the left and fill out the top/botttom/left side corners and then it's "done" until I choose a silhouette and backing. One of my chores for this week is to take an inventory of projects that could or should be finished before my trunk show in 24 days. This doll quilt might stall after finishing the neutrals if I have some other closer-to-done quilts that would benefit from attention before the show. I've been meaning to do that quick inventory for a few days now so if I can catch a break with job#2 I'll get on that..

Feline Friday - 9/20/19
Momma bought me a new toy!
She bought it cuz I'm infatuated with kitchen sponges and thought the texture of my new owl replicated it pretty well.
I agree Oscar the Owl is fun to play with (hence the fuzzy motion shots) but it's just not the same as my stinky, dried out sponge.
Maybe Momma has a fresh sponge I can confiscate...

Wednesday Weather #122 - 9/18/19
We had a little bit of everything last week, altho it's a touch hard to tell the correct colors from this photo. It's definitely fall when the temps are up and down and all around like this.
It was especially nice on the first "green" day this fall to dress for the weather. There is just something about changing out to a slightly different wardrobe to keep the chill off. Maybe not quite as nice as waking up to a warm kitty flat against my back this morning when the window is still open and it's 46F but it was close.
I know it's not an apples to apples comparison but with 2018 on the left and 2019 on the right, it looks to me like there were less red days and more yellow days this summer. Someday I'll need to actually count how many of each color there are each year...

HeLP for Hexie-aholics - 9/17/19
Hello and welcome to HeLP for Hexie-aholics!!! Can you believe how fast the last month has flown by? I certainly can't. It doesn't feel like I've accomplished much on my hexies but I suppose I can only blame that on my fall job taking up my lunches and evenings. By the weekend I'm too pooped to clean house, mow or stitch much. It's pretty pathetic :(
I think I've doubled the width of this doll quilt since I last shared it with y'all. As you can see, the top/bottom edges are a little wonky due to the honeycomb shape and me working on this in halves to keep the fabric pairs separated. I have 2 and a half more columns to put on the left side to use up the fabric I've cut. I think I'll then need 1 or 2 more columns to get it the proper width and then I can clean up the top and bottom. Next step after that is to pick a silhouette. Several people felt a cat would still be appropriate despite having just finished Mr Serious but I've still got my eyes and ears open for anything that strikes my fancy.
And now it's your turn. Please comment below with a link to your hexie project or tell us about a project you are dreaming of starting. I look forward to seeing your projects!!

Feline Friday - 9/13/19
Sometimes Momma captures my good side and sometimes ... not so much.
Momma likes to sit crossed legged on the couch (the kids are now required to call it criss cross applesauce so no Native Americans are offended if I call it indian style) cuz it makes her back feel better.
I like it when she sits CCA with my fleece blanket cuz it's comfy to snuggle into her lap with a knee for a pillow, especially when I've spent the night out on the town.
This picture might not look pretty but if you see it on Momma's phone it's one of those fancy "live" photos and she thinks it's just high-larious to start with my good side and end with this. Ugh. And now it's on the internet...forever.

Wednesday Weather Report #121 - 9/11/19
So clearly I am not into the new groove of working my day job and school taxes yet. I meant to post last Thursday with a quilt top I completed - by machine of all things! - and forgot. I also meant to post Feline Friday and didn't remember until Sunday that I hadn't. Day job has been stressing me out lately so maybe I'll get the kinks worked out forthwith and not forget anything else too soon...
Your eyes do not deceive you - yesterday was a red day!!
It was 80 at 1pm but it did actually get up to 82F. The heat itself wasn't an issue yesterday, just figuring out what to wear as we started at 48F and I didn't really believe it would get that warm. Today we started at 70F so it was easier to pick a reasonable outfit when they also claimed it would be in the 80s. Tomorrow will be the opposite as it *might* be 60F by 1pm, making it either a green or yellow day. Only time will tell...but I'm hoping for green...

Wednesday Weather Report #120 - 9/4/19
I had a decision to make over the weekend - do I cut more orange Grunge fabric for my temperature quilt or do I continue to work on the new doll quilt? It was a tough decision. LOL.
August 28-31, 2019: 74 - 70 - 74 - 68 F
September 1-3, 2019: 72 - 67 - 73 F
You knew I would aim for the new quilt right? I can catch up on the temp quilt in no time so it was an easy decision.
The quilt uses 1" honeycomb shapes and it's all random neutral fabrics, 2 of each fabric that I currently have. When the honeycomb section is large enough to make a dolly quilt I'll decide on a silhouette to applique on the quilt.
As usual, I am designing/flying by the seat of my pants and have no ideas yet for the silhouette...

The Bibliophile Files - 9/3/19
I had another good reading month and feel really confident in finishing my 74 book reading challenge for the year (spell out the months of the year and read a book that has those letters in the title somewhere). When I logged into goodreads.com to update my booklist I was especially pleased to see that I'm actually only 3 books behind on my 90 book challenge for the year. DoubleWoot!
I'm having a "Monday" on a Tuesday so a very late post and no insight on the books..I'll just tell you that my favorite was either Reversal or Elevation and I don't have a least favorite, per say, but the hardest to get into was Keeper of Lost Things and Endless Beach, both of which I enjoyed in the end.
FINISHED
The Reversal
Monstrous Beauty
Openly Straight
An Enemy of the People
The Cat Who Went up the Creek
Elevation
The Keeper of Lost Things
Sister Eve, Private Eye
Night & Day
Home Sweet Murder
The Endless Beach
The Jungle
IN PROGRESS
on my iPhone - All Lined Up
on my home stereo - Firefly Lane, a novel
I'm looking for suggestions for 4 more books with R, U or Y in the title. Even if you've suggested a book before I might have missed it the first time so I would love to hear it again.
Don't forget to link up a book/reading post in the comments or just leave a comment with the titles of your recent reads. We are always looking for suggestions. Heck, I already have the next reading challenged all lined up and she's a doozy!
