Wednesday Weather Report #155 - 5/6/20

It's clearly still spring. Daylight comes earlier and stays later but the temps are so inconsistent. We had our first day in the 70s and now we are looking at abnormally cold weather this weekend, including more snow! I'm sure the snow is because I had the snow tires removed from my car Monday... I guess putting summer tires on does not necessarily bring summer. Bummer.

April 29-30, 2020 :: 65 - 56 F
May 1-5, 2020 :: 55 - 63 - 73 - 44 - 47 F

I have been tempted by many quarantine projects being offered online recently. I even convinced a friend to start one and then I abandoned her. Oopsies!

Instead I pulled out a long term UFO named Omigosh! According to my blog I started this in 2009 but haven't posted about it since 2012. Heavens to murgatroyd that's a long time to sit and wait for my attention!! I've got about 4 or 5 boxes dedicated to this project including boxes for finished 4 and 9patches, parts for more 4 and 9patches and 1" strips to make more parts.

Not that different...

The only reason I can think of that this quilt has sat for 8 years was a doubt in my own abilities to stitch something so tiny. And yet I've recently been enthralled with 3.5" blocks so how different is a 2' block???

No matter why I've ignored the project we are going gangbusters now. More pictures next week so for now let's just say that I've nearly doubled the 4 and 9patches in the finished box and that means I am about half done with making this quilt. Keep your fingers crossed that this will hold my attention for many more weeks (including no-housework-Fridays) and maybe I will even get it finished by summer's end...

Wednesday Weather Report #130 - 11/13/19

Thanks to the cold weather, I've had some extra snoopervision lately. I'm not so sure he's been checking on the quality of my work as gaining (stealing?!) warmth from being in my lap =^..^=

November 6 - 12, 2019
42 - 31 - 26 - 35 - 42 - 29 - 20 F

We were soooooo close yesterday to adding a third new/colder color (violet) in just 12 days. I'm sure it'll happen soon enough and then I'll wish it would go away. We had a decent amount of snow on Monday but we didn't break any local snow records whereas there were several neighboring towns/cities that did get ~10", which broke records. Thew snow is still fresh and white, meaning I'm enjoying it. I won't have the same response in a month or so...

Wednesday Weather Report #112 - 7/10/19

We might have been deluged with several rain storms over the weekend but now it's warmed up enough that the puddles I had to mow around last week are now deeply cracked and dried out clay. Ugghh. Mother Nature is off her meds again!

July 3 - 9, 2019
79 - 83 - 85 - 73 - 70 - 74 - 79 F
July 1 - 9, 2019

After finishing stitching the Mr Serious top together I kind of floundered around my curio cabinet of hexie UFO  projects for a week or so, testing the water with several projects. Then I was asked to give another trunk show and (doll) bed turning in October which got my juices flowing so I started a "new" project. I've had the pin saved for some time but I still had to pick fabrics. I had recently purchased 2 mini-charm packs of the 2019 new Grunge fabrics and it appeared there would be two of each fabric in the pack. It was the perfect option until I realized there really was only two of the first couple of fabrics. Never fear cuz I have a box of Grunges to pick from and so I did.

I even doodled the design up in EQ7
with similar colors to what I would be using.

 As I started to stitch at Hexie Club last Friday it appeared that this project was going to be wayyyyyyy too big for a doll quilt. In fact, when I got home and remeasured it, the quilt will be fine, it's just the papers are four times as big as the last papers I was using and my brain was playing tricks on me. These are 1" papers and I really do prefer the smaller ones. On the plus side, tho, this is coming together quite quickly as I've only worked on it since Friday night and maybe only for an hour or 2 each day.

You'll notice that I haven't quite finished the right side the same as the EQ diagram. It's not that I still think it's too big, it's more like I am considering having the "center" of the design more to one side than in the current diagram. It will be easy enough to add the "missing" bits when the rest is finished than to wish I hadn't put them on and need to take them off.

Don't worry - I have several UFOs and another NewFOs packed for my pending vacation!!! Those UFOs will get tackled soon enough.

As I have mentioned recently, I chose not to re-up my linky party software so please feel free to add your link to the comments below or just tell us about your weather. Are you finally warming up in the northern hemisphere or finally cooling down in the southern hemisphere?

Wednesday Weather Report #107 - 6/5/19

I know this is a wonky photo collage but I haven't had time to cut more temp fabrics so I had to improvise with the last 2 yellows I had cut. I best get to cutting soon tho as I will be catching up starting next week. Woohoo!

May 29-31, 2019: 55 - 69 - 69 F
June 1-4, 2019: 71 - 57 - 54 - 63 F

It seems we have reverted a bit back to early spring weather. I even had to turn the furnace back on the one evening when I was still chilled despite sweats and a quilt. Eek!!
