Sunday Evening -
Oops - I neglected to take a good photo of the finished quilt front. Instead I was still gungho and kept right on going to make a back and size the batting.
Within minutes of finishing the back I was hoofing the block to the fire hall to take advantage of the tables and space to get this baby spray basted.
You can see the quilt is bigger than the tables but I like this as it lets me hang parts of it off the table so I can work on the "middle". It was less than an hour to get this 70x70 quilt spray basted.
I've already started thinking of quilting designs and just need to check my thread stash. I am just about out of my medium gray Masterpiece thread for basic stitching so it's time to stock up :)
I'm also still gungho to finish off some other projects. I have many tops that just need batting and backings. I might be going on a FART this weekend to a friend's sister's store that has 80+ wideback fabrics on sale this weekend. She doesn't carry my preferred batting but what she has is also on sale so I'll need to decide if I want to save money to get them done or stick with what I like...

That picture with Zorro is great! Good job on finishing the basting!
When I saw the first photo with the ambulance, my first thought was that you had been basting in your own garage but then had experienced a medical emergency! Glad to realise that's not the case.
Congratulations on getting the quilt basted - the end is in sight! I'm just working on the last of the quilting of mine. For once my mystery quilt is not becoming a UFO.
Well done with the basting. Good luck with the quilting.
Enjoy the shopping
I've heard a lot of quilters say they use their garage for basting quilts, but I think you top them all with your garage! : )
quilt looks great and Zorro certainly appreciates it. How useful to have those tables I use my kichen one but have a battle trying to extend it but it works well, layering up on the floor is beyond me now.Wondering what a FART is? happy shopping, I have been lucky bought lots of duvet covers very cheap in the sales and the super king size ones are enormous
Came together so gorgeous! Love the back!
You are really on a roll with this one! I'm making that size too and hoping to finish up the borders today. I'll be interested to see how you decide to quilt yours :*)
When I have something big, I take it to the LQS and use their tables! If it's been dry and it's not windy, I can take it to the pavilion ... but then I've got to get on my hands and knees. Yuck! You're looking GREAT!!! :)
You're moving right along on this beautiful quilt. I have to make my border units and then I"ll be able to get mine toward completion. Do you work at a fire house?
Gung Ho indeed! Fine fast work there, Sarah!
